Regarding the NATO campaign of 1999. Yugoslavia sued all of the NATO members that accepted compulsory jurisdiction before the World Court, Canada being one of them (the U.S. no longer accepts automatic jurisdiction since the ICJ ruled against it in 1985 in Nicaragua v. United States). The World Court has not ruled, but speculation in UN circles (at least here in Tokyo) is that the Court will rule in favor of Yugoslavia, and against Canada.
Was Canada's participation as a member of NATO in the military campaign against Yugoslavia legal? If not, then what is there any justification for not supporting the U.S. war against Iraq?
