Currently, I do not feel that we have an effective foreign policy at all. The politicians echo the platitudes and "sound bites" but fail to commit to a rational foreign policy. This week we are committed to multi-lateralism vis-a-vis the United Nations, next week it will be bi-lateral rela 1871 2003-05-01 09:32:08

Canadians want to live in a safer world and they believe this can be achieved by making this a better world. Our foreign policy promotes these goals by identifying and protecting us against external threats (military or otherwise), improving our relations and promoting trade with other states, and 1860 2003-05-01 00:26:24
The primary focus of our foreign policy should be encouragement of democracy and human rights. This obviously serves the interests of people in developing countries as well as Canada--a more democratic world is a safer world for us too.
