What should Canada do to help make the benefits of globalization more widely shared within and among all countries?

Answer:
Canada should promote the sharing of benefits from globalization in the following ways:

1. Canada should support new global arrangements of tariffs and subsidies so that developing countries can obtain profitable market access for their exports, protect their fragile local industries from cheap imports, and promote job creation for their people.

2. Through its involvement with international lenders, Canada should promote debt forgiveness for developing countries, and oppose any further structural adjustment programs that harm the poor.

3. Canada should work to ensure that all transnational corporations are forced to comply with high employment and environmental standards.

4. As a means of facilitating the participation of developing countries in globalization, Canada should increase its development aid to these countries.
