Absolutely.
Our first concern in advocating these values is to practice them ourselves, especially when Canadians are important economic actors abroad.
As far as possible, the standards we require of those doing business in Canada, should govern as well the conduct of Canadian business operations outside of Canada.
Support of exchanges between Canadian citizens and foreign counterparts at many levels are important--from youth to professional workers to retirees.
These could be supplemented by support for consultations and dialogues on key issues such as sustaining diverse cultures, implementing democracy, human rights training, gender equity and peacebuilding. |
