Values relating to equality of people, basic human rights, and striving to bring all people to a decent standard of living are the most important for Canadian foreign policy.
There is a disjoint between the priorities of Canadians and the effective foreign policy. This could be minimised by discounting the input from special interest groups and multinational corporations when setting policy. The present initiatives are at least a start. |
