Answer: |
The Canadian military must support the objectives of obtaining influence in American policy, connecting with global non-government players and providing alternates to US military intervention.
The capabilities called up require ability for combat operations with the US preferably providing elements which are highly valued or not available in the US inventory such as diesel submarines or peacekeepers.
The intelligence capabilities must be expanded to cover areas not formerly considered such as operations of international corporations. Although civilian activities, pursuit of information may require the willingness to accept risk found in the military and police information specialists.
To provide alternates to superpower or big power intervention a Canadian general purpose land capability must be developed that can be projected to those regions of little interest except to those dying there or where for whatever reason alternates will not be explored by the US or big powers.
Canadian military development should build on the strength of Canadian society our individuals but with the above principles before us to provide a framework. |
