Question 2: The 1995 Policy Review and Since

Amid recent global changes, should Canada continue to endorse a balanced ‘three pillar’ approach to its foreign policy objectives, or should the current balance be adjusted?

Answer:
I believe the 3 pillars succinctly articulate our goals. The emphasis should be on security and promotion of our democratic values abroad. The economic prosperity will tend to follow on its own from a safer Canada and a more democratic world.

I believe we should work more closely with the US on matters of security, including external intelligence gathering.
