Answer:
Canada has a unique opportunity to contribute to intercultural and interfaith dialogue by living our national example. We must first ensure that prejudice and competition or conflict based in culture or faith is not tolerated. Although there is no need for a total assimilation in Canada, there must be a consistent and enforced respect for Canadian law and the tradition of tolerance and accommodation.

Then, we must be encouraging of all Canadians, irrespective of culture or faith, to participate in our global activities (without any 'quotas!)so that we are seen to be and be practising what we claim to be. This means a longer term involvement of the broadest cross-section of Canadians in overseas activities whether in diplomatic, military, business or cultural activities.

Thsi will be more effective and longer lasting in impact than 'showcase' events which are expensive, short-lived and marginal long-term value. The one exception, of course, is encouraging Canadian students to study abroad and international students to study in Canada. That is how Canadians of all backgrounds can best be seen.
