| Canada is a young nation. Canadians have built a country based upon unique values, principles and customs. Its culture and values are recognized across the globe. Canadian foreign policy has traditionally been built through multilateral organisations most of which were created some 50 years ago. This must continue. Most of these organisations come under the umbrella of the United Nations (Bretton Woods et al). Canada has always unfailingly supported the principles that gave birth to them. These organisations and institutions have experienced many challenges and overcome many obstacles. However, whilst the issue of their value may be questioned by some, the fact remains that they are the only viable mechanism through which world affairs should be addressed. What appears certain is that Canada should take the initiative to promote their reformation and restructuring in order to adapt them to today's reality and environment where the principles apply to all equally and in fairness. Canada may not be a major power neither in terms of it economic might nor its political clout. However, if there is one nation in todays globe that is respected by most for its opinion that nation is Canada. "I CAN ADIAN" |
