Intercultural and interfaith dialogue is part of the foundation of global security, prosperity and well-being.

Canada has many moderate and progressive communities of all religions, including Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, etc.. The voices of progressive adherents of world religions are rarely heard, although they are politically and socially active. Peace, compassion and harmony are valued shared by all of the world's religions. Unfortunately, some interpretations of holy books and accumulated laws and traditions have always been used by people in power to justify crimes against humanity, conflicts, and existing power structures. They have turned many adherents away from the core values of their own religion. This has ranged from the Christian crusades and inquisitions of the past to justifications for the current Middle East conflict. Canada could support faith community and interfaith initiatives to promote peace, justice and conflict resolution. This means financial support, and public recognition of these efforts.
