Le Canada doit-il continuer de promouvoir dans le monde les valeurs que sont les droits humains, la démocratie, le respect de la diversité et l’égalité des sexes? Si oui, quelles sont les meilleures façons de le faire?

Human rights, democracy, respect for diversity and gender equality are our greatest foreign policy assets, all the more acceptable in the world view since Canada is not perceived to be a major or threatening military power. Showing by example what has come of our values has far greater impact than does self-promotion. We strongly believe in the power of education. Through education, not only will a people acquire the necessary skills to make their way in this world, but the opportunity to discuss, develop and change values and attitudes will be afforded. Our foreign policy should stress education for all people and show cultures which tend to gender inequality that the good of society and thereby the individuals in that society, is served when all are equally supported. In promoting equal access to education, the removal of impediments to such access (food, water, security, support for families) must be ensured.
